Carroll ISD Requests 2020-2021 Calendar Input

During the December 16 Carroll ISD School Board meeting, two potential school calendars were presented to the Board for discussion. From now until January 9, CISD is engaging the Carroll community for input on the proposed calendars.

Carroll ISD is a District of Innovation which affords the district the ability to have more flexibility in the design of a calendar that best meets the needs of students.

Listed below are the two calendar options in detail. Carroll ISD would appreciate the input of the community through their two-way communication tool, Let’s Talk.

Calendar Option 1

First Day of School – Monday, August 17, 2020
Labor Day Holiday – September 7
Professional Staff Development Day/No School for Students – Friday, October 9
Staff Flex Day/No School for Students – Monday, October 12
Thanksgiving Break — Monday, November 23 – Friday, November 27
Winter break — Monday, December 21 through Friday, January 1, 2021
CISD staff would return to work on Monday, January 4
Students would return on Tuesday, January 5
MLK Holiday – Monday, January 18
Friday, February 12 – Bad weather day
Monday, February 15 – Holiday
Tuesday, February 16 – Professional Development/No school for students
Spring Break — March 15-19
Bad Weather day — Friday, April 2
Last day of school- Thursday, May 27 (before Memorial Day)
Graduation/Teacher Work Day – Friday, May 28

This calendar option is the same as the Draft 1 calendar option with the exception of:

Friday, February 12 – Professional Development/No school for students
Monday, February 15 – Holiday
Monday, March 22 – Bad Weather Day
