We did it team! The Southlake community recycled 146 gallons of cooking oil and grease during the 2020 Holiday Grease Roundup, preventing it from clogging drains and damaging infrastructure. This year, around 40 people participated in the program, with an average of 3.66 gallons of cooking oil and grease recycled per person. That’s a 28% increase in participation from last year’s event! The program provides a collection station accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the holiday season, as well as free collection containers for residents to utilize. Together, the City and residents can help maintain the quality infrastructure to keep our city clean, safe and efficient. Miss this year’s recycling event? Keep an eye out for next year’s notification before Thanksgiving! For more information about how to keep your drains clear year-round, check out our webpage on fats, oils and grease.
