Governor Abbott Updates Texans on COVID-19

Today, (3/22), in a press conference, Governor Greg Abbott announced the latest information on the fight against the Coronavirus.

The updated information from the Governor, the Texas Department of State and Health Services, and the Texas Division of Emergency Management includes:

• The Governor ‘s expectation that Texans will comply with the Executive Order that was issued on Thursday 3/19, that limited public gatherings in an effort to reduce the public’s exposure,
• The expansion of the nursing workforce,
• The suspension of elective surgeries that are not medically necessary,
• Allowing the treatment of more than one person per room,
• The creation of a Texas strike force that will focus on acquiring needed medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE).

“Southlake stands in support of Governor Abbott and his leadership,” said Mayor Laura Hill. “We need to work together to support our doctors and nurses, first responders, and those who are on the COVID-19 frontlines. Our best course of action is to practice social distancing, support local businesses as best we can, and do our part to stop community spread,” she added.
