Interested in Joining the District Diversity Council?

At the September 28 regular meeting of the Carroll ISD School Board, Trustees discussed the addition of at least seven new members to the District Diversity Council. The Board decided to open the application process for all who are interested in joining the DDC.

Interested parents and taxpayers will need to fill out the District Diversity Council application, and completed applications must be returned to the Superintendent’s Office, 2400 N. Carroll Avenue, by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 19. Submitting an application does not necessarily guarantee participation on a committee. Once the application closes, Trustees will review the applications and each Trustee will name at least one new applicant to join the DDC.

If chosen, new members of the DDC will be required to complete an EZ Volunteer Background Check before participating in the committee meetings.

Based on a new timeline brought forward by DDC co-chairs Pam Francis and Eric Ransom Sept. 14, the DDC will continue to collect questions and feedback this fall so that workshops with the Board and new superintendent can be scheduled in early 2021. Community engagement and input will be built into the process. Individuals with questions about the proposed Cultural Competence Action Plan (CCAP) and/or recommendations for DDC consideration should email CCAP-Feedback@southlakecarroll.edu. Until then, various recommendations and action steps in the CCAP are on hold and Trustees will take no action.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, many committees across the district, including DDC, have been meeting virtually to abide by social distancing guidelines and also limiting the number of people in close contact on campuses and district facilities.
