Giveback Challenge 2020

For the 5th year in a row, Carroll ISD is challenging campuses to participate in a gift card drive from Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 4, 2020. This year, the campuses will compete to see who can raise the most money in gift cards or online donations for the benefit of GRACE Grapevine.

The first Give Back Challenge in 2016 was a canned food drive that benefitted GRACE, and Carroll ISD is happy to help this nonprofit relief agency again. GRACE, based in Grapevine, provides food, clothing, financial assistance and other vital necessities to people who are struggling with a limited income or recent emergency. The philosophy of GRACE is that encouraging self-sufficiency will, in turn, encourage community cohesiveness.

The 2020 Give Back Challenge will consist of a gift card drive and an online donation option. The campus that collects the largest dollar amount in gift cards or donations will be named the 2020 Ozarka® Compassion Cup winner.

GRACE was organized in 1987 as a response to the growing need for emergency assistance services in far northeast Tarrant County. It is a centralized, coordinated effort of churches, businesses and individuals donating food, clothing, monetary donations, and even professional services to Grapevine, Colleyville, and Southlake residents, as well as homeless and transient families in need. Programs have grown to include low cost medical services, transitional housing, and general emergency assistance (food, clothes, furniture, financial assistance, information and referrals).

This year’s gift Give Back Challenge offers different ways to help, keeping social distancing in mind. Gift cards in denominations of $10 to $25 will go to GRACE’s Christmas Cottage program. The Christmas Cottage allows families to shop and receive gifts at no cost to them. Gift cards are popular gifts for teenagers and will allow them to choose what they really need. For those who would rather not have that in-person interaction, an online donation is possible. GRACE has a special donation webpage for those participating in the Give Back Challenge.

Gift cards may be given to teachers or to the front office at any CISD campus. Please label all gift cards with their dollar amount. Gift card drop boxes will be available in the front office of each campus and the CISD Administration Building.

Past campus winners include Johnson Elementary (2016, 2017, 2018) and Walnut Grove Elementary (2019).

Gift cards will be picked up at all campuses at 9 a.m. on Friday, December 4 for counting. The winning campus will be announced at the varsity football game that night.
