The challenges are well-known for school districts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. After hearing from their teaching staff, the District recognized the need for additional planning time and have altered the schedule to accommodate that need for Dragon teachers. Carroll ISD will now have early release days on November 6 and November 13.
All campuses will dismiss early on these two days and teachers will have the opportunity to plan for their classes and prepare for the next few weeks. In order to accommodate our staggered transportation schedule, dismissal times will be as follows:
Elementary Schools (PK — 4) — 11:20 a.m.
Intermediate Schools — 12:15 p.m.
Middle Schools — 12:15 p.m.
High/Sr. High Schools — 11:12 p.m.
In August, the start of school was delayed five days for the district to spend time training staff on various topics that came with the new Texas Education Agency (TEA) guidelines for reopening schools in the midst of the pandemic. By delaying school for those five days, the district had to rearrange the staff development days that were scattered throughout the year and front-load these days to the beginning of the year.
Elementary campuses have also been added to the early dismissal calendar for the last few days before the holiday break. In past years, these campuses have been on a full-day schedule. The District is still looking at the second semester calendar for potential opportunities to open up planning time for the teaching staff.
