Dr. Lane Ledbetter Unanimously Approved as Next Superintendent of Schools

The Carroll School Board held a special meeting Friday morning to approve Dr. Lane Ledbetter as the next Carroll ISD Superintendent of Schools. The Board approved Dr. Ledbetter unanimously and he will join Carroll ISD on January 4, 2021.

Coming into the new position, Dr. Ledbetter is preparing to learn from all stakeholders in Carroll ISD.

“My first priority as Superintendent is getting to know the students and staff of Carroll ISD. I want to meet the community and begin to work with them as well,” Dr. Ledbetter said in his remarks to the board. “I want to really learn what makes everyone in this district Dragon Proud and Dragon Strong.”

Dr. Ledbetter has 27 years of total experience in education, the past eight of which were spent serving as a superintendent.  He was first hired as Superintendent in Graham ISD from 2012-2015. For the past five and a half years he has led Midlothian ISD, a fast-growing district of 9,800 students and 1,470 employees. While at Midlothian Dr. Ledbetter helped roll out a 1:1 technology initiative, passed the largest bond program in school history, and led the staff and community through the strategic planning process.

Dr. Ledbetter will begin his tenure as Superintendent of Schools on January 4, 2021, the first day back after the winter break. Dr. Ledbetter and Carroll ISD are planning a Dragon Chat Live virtual event during his first week on the job. This will be a great opportunity for the community to hear from the new Superintendent. More information on this event will come from Carroll ISD soon.

Dr. Ledbetter is looking forward to coming in and immediately getting to work.

“I am excited to hit the ground running. I am ready to serve this community alongside the tremendous leaders already in place here, as we continue to work to make Carroll ISD the great place that it already is,” Dr. Ledbetter said.
