Dragon Football Wins District; Prepare for Playoffs

The Dragon Football team has concluded another undefeated district schedule and is preparing to begin their third playoff run under head coach Riley Dodge. Friday night, the Dragons wrapped up the regular season with a dominant performance over the Fossil Ridge Panthers.

The Dragons scored early and often in the season finale. Led by senior quarterback Hunter Holden, filling in for injured Quinn Ewers, the Dragons jumped out to a 28-0 lead after the first quarter. Holden ended the game with over 200 yards and five touchdown passes. Senior Brady Boyd and Junior RJ Maryland both scored early touchdowns in this one. Boyd put on a show in his final regular-season game at Dragon Stadium with eight catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns. Maryland added three touchdowns to his season total to end the regular season with 13 total receiving touchdowns.

Senior kicker and the University of Connecticut commit, Joe McFadden hit the longest field goal of his career in this game as well. The senior launched a 48-yard field goal through the uprights.

The Dragons will host their first-round playoff game against Haltom on Friday, December 11 at Dragon Stadium. The Haltom Buffalos ended the regular season last week with a loss to North Crowley. The Buffalos finished their regular season with an overall record of 5-4 and third in district 3-6A.

Tickets for the Friday night game are available at starting at 8:30 am on Tuesday, December 8. Please note that parking for this game will be $5 at the gate.
