Board of Trustees Approve Four Additional Professional Development Half Days for Staff

The Board of Trustees approved four additional professional development half days for all staff at the Board Meeting on Monday, January 11.

The district obtained a waiver from TEA that allows CISD to adjust the following dates to become half day on campus instructional days and half days asynchronous learning days in order to provide additional time for teacher professional development:

  • February 26, 2021
  • March 12,2021
  • April 16, 2021
  • April 30, 2021

On these dates, the first half of the day will be a normal day for both in-person and DVA students, while the afternoon will now be an asynchronous learning half-day for all students, regardless of enrollment in DVA or in-person learning. For staff, these afternoons will provide four additional half-days of professional development and planning time. Similar to any other half days in the calendar, bus routes will run accordingly to the campus schedule for that day.

“As a leadership team we are extremely excited to provide additional planning time for staff this spring based on feedback we received from our teachers,” said Dr. Janet McDade, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. “These afternoon planning times are invaluable to our staff as they provide the best learning experiences possible for our students.”

The Board had previously approved two days identical to these last semester on November 6 and  November 13.
