CISD To Host Virtual Blended Prekindergarten Parent Information Night

Carroll ISD and the CISD Special Programs Department is excited to host a Virtual Blended Prekindergarten Parent Information on Thursday, February 18, at 5:30 p.m.

This virtual event will be held to answer questions parents may have as their soon-to-be prekindergarten Dragons prepare to start their educational journey through Carroll ISD.

CISD Blended Prekindergarten Program is open to all three and four-year-olds who are eligible to attend Carroll ISD by September 1 of the school year. Based on state criteria, some students will qualify for free public school prekindergarten while other students that do not qualify for free prekindergarten may enter the lottery to participate as a tuition-based student. Tuition Prekindergarten is available at a cost of $6,000 per year, which can be divided by 10 months (August-May) at $600 per month. To be eligible for enrollment for free public school prekindergarten, a child must meet at least one of the following eligibility requirements:

  • · Is unable to speak and comprehend the English language; or
  •  Is educationally disadvantaged (which means a student is eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program; or
  • Is homeless; or
  • Is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority; or
  • Is the child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty; or
  • Is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing; or
  • Is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as: a peace officer; a firefighter; or an emergency medical first responder.

Prekindergarten registration for the 2021-22 school year will be available online beginning February 22, 2021. The lottery enrollment window is Feb. 22 – March 5. Skyward enrollment will not be updated for this process until February 22, 2021. Submission of any application prior to February 22, will result in the deletion of the enrollment application, attachments, and forms. Students that are 5 years of age as of September 1 are not eligible to enroll in Prekindergarten; they may enroll in kindergarten.

The Enrollment Requirements for the CISD Blended Pre-K Program per the CISD Webpage:

The following students are guaranteed enrollment into the Blended Prekindergarten Program:

  • Students who are eligible for Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) will be placed in the least restrictive environment beginning on their third birthday, regardless of when the birthday falls during the school year
  • Students who are eligible for the State-Mandated Prekindergarten Program who are 4 by September 1st of the current school year
  • Carroll ISD also offers the State-Mandated Prekindergarten Program to three-year-old children based on space availability

The following students are guaranteed enrollment in the Blended Prekindergarten Program if the request for admission form is completed and submitted by 4:00 p.m. on February 24, 2020.  Requests for enrollments received after this due date cannot be guaranteed.  All applications must be complete.

  • Returning students who are currently in the Blended Prekindergarten Program,
  • Siblings of students who are currently in the 3-year-old Blended Prekindergarten Program, and who will return to the 4-year-old Blended Prekindergarten Program; and
  • Children of District Employees

The New Student Online Enrollment (NSOE), including all supporting documents and residency verification, must be completed during the lottery window to secure a spot for siblings and district employees new to Carroll ISD.

Returning students who are currently in the CISD Blended Prekindergarten Program will be required to complete Annual Student Verification in August.

Twins/Multiples
Twins/Multiples will be entered into the lottery as one entity.  Placement of twins/multiples will be dependent on availability at the time of placement.

Siblings
Siblings will be entered into the lottery as separate entities.  The placement of one sibling does not guarantee the placement of the other sibling.

The following may enter the lottery:

  1. Carroll ISD Residents (own/lease)
  2. TEA Grandparent After School Care*
  3. Carroll ISD/Northwest ISD Disputed Zone*
  4. Recent Completed Purchase of Home (Complete Closing Disclosure, HUD Statement, or Warranty Deed with all signatures)
  5. Family in Residence

The following may join the waitlist AFTER the lottery:

  1. Carroll ISD Grandparent Resident*

Students residing within open enrollment areas will be placed on a separate waiting list.
