Junior quarterback Quinn Ewers is one of five finalists for one of DFW’s most prestigious awards for area high school football players, The Landry Award.
The Landry Award recognizes the top high school football player within the 32-county viewing area in North Texas who demonstrates positive character and leadership attributes. The honoree is chosen by a voting panel of former coaches and players, members of the media, and local leaders.
Quinn Ewers, who is recognized as the country’s top player in the class of 2022, just completed his second year at the helm of the Dragon offense.
Ewer missed the majority of the regular season due to injury, but returned and led the Dragons to their first appearance in the UIL State Championship since 2011. In eight games, Ewers finished with 2,442 yards and 28 touchdowns through the air and added three more rushing touchdowns.
Joining Ewers were finalists, Eli Stowers, the quarterback from Denton Guyer, JoJo Earle, wide receiver, from Aledo High, Ralph Rucker, quarterback, from Lovejoy High, and Kaidon Salter, quarterback, from Cedar Hill High.
The winner will be announced on. CBS 11 on Saturday, January 30 at 11pm.
