Carroll ISD is currently monitoring the forecast over the next few days as temperatures drop and possible weather winter is expected.
Currently, no decisions have been made about the status of school on Thursday. Right now, CISD is scheduled to be open as planned. As the district monitors the overnight forecast, however, CISD wanted to clarify that if the weather conditions result in school cancellation on Thursday, it would be a true snow day for all students and staff. The schools will be closed and there will be no in-person or remote learning.
If school is canceled Thursday, CISD would still remain closed on Friday, February 12, and Monday, February 15 as planned in the adopted calendar. The district does not believe there is sufficient notice to parents or staff to use the first bad weather day built into the calendar (Friday, Feb. 12) as a make-up day.
There is flexibility in the calendar to consider other options if additional bad weather days are needed. Looking into next week’s forecast, Tuesday could bring additional freezing rain and wintery mix. CISD has the option to pivot to remote learning for all students/staff if necessary. Official announcements would come directly from Carroll ISD.
As a reminder, decisions to delay or cancel school are typically made prior to 6 a.m. on the day of inclement weather. CISD monitors the National Weather Service, coordinates with Fort Worth and Southlake Offices of Emergency Management, as well as neighboring school districts. Carroll ISD has the ability to text, call, email, and tweet weather-related decisions to staff and families.
