CTE Month Recognizes Numerous Teachers Preparing Dragons for Bright Futures

February is National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month and Carroll ISD is proud to have many teachers who are dedicated to preparing their Dragon students for life after high school.

Career and technical education, or CTE, is education that directly prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers. CTE covers many different fields, including health care, information technology, advanced manufacturing, hospitality and management, and many more. CTE encompasses many different types of education, from classroom learning to certification programs to work-based learning opportunities outside the classroom.

With classes ranging from Media Production to Floral Design, CTE courses serve many student interests in many areas.

Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Gina Peddy, has heard and. seen the impact that CTE courses can have on students.

“I have had students tell me that their CTE class is the best class they have ever taken, they say ‘We learn real-life stuff in here”, Peddy said.”Students are required to think critically and to problem solve which is a lifelong skill that will be needed whether students are preparing for college, a career, or life in general. Because our students are required to be creative and to use imagination in creating their projects, the CTE courses in CISD are rapidly becoming some of our most popular classes.”

Colvin, Ben Gaeth, Kim Goodman, Nicole Harris, Cathy Hickman, Jennifer Hutto, Juliana Jenkins, Chad Jurecka, Allie Loftin, Rachel Mahlow, Daniel Moore, Steven Nathman, Nicole Owen, Sean Razloznik, Jennifer Randall, Carl Stovall, Leah Schwedler, Zachary Sellers and Wendy Starkey, currently teach CTE courses. The District thanks them for their dedication to the preparation of our students for their bright futures!
