Lady Dragons Earn Trip to Sweet 16

For the first time since 2004, the Lady Dragon Basketball team has punched their ticket to the fourth round of the UIL State Playoffs. The Lady Dragons knocked off Timber Creek to advance to the Regional Semifinal this weekend.

The Lady Dragons (23-6) took on a familiar face Thursday night.  This was the third meeting between the teams this year, twice in district play, and now in the UIL playoffs. The teams split the previous two meetings, but the Dragons won the final match up that sealed their spot in the Regional Semifinal.

The Lady Dragons were fueled by a strong performance by sophomore Camryn Tade. Tade had 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, one steal, and a block in Lady Dragons 40-27 win over Timber Creek. The Lady Dragon Defense once again held their opponents to under 31 points. Out of the 29 total games on the season, only 10 opponents have scored over 31  points.

The Lady Dragon defense hopes to continue its hot streak in the Regional Semifinal against Plano East in Class 6A Region I Semifinals at 6:30 Saturday at Historic Loos Fieldhouse in Addison, Texas. Plano East will enter the game with an overall record of 20-3. Tickets for the game can be purchased here.
