This past weekend, the Dragon Swim and Dive teams pushed through some adversity and continued their tradition of excellence in the pool by sweeping the UIL 2-6A Regional Meet.
The Dragons will advance on to another UIL State Championship Meet later this month.
The Dragon Divers opened the weekend with a dominant performance on Friday morning. Hailey Hernandez, Manuel Borowski, and Jackson Miller finished in position to qualify for the state meet. Head Diving Coach Carolyn Hryorchuk was named the Region 2-6A Diving Coach of the Meet.
The Dragon swimmers overcame two relay disqualifications in the Girl’s 200-meter freestyle relay and the Boy’s 200-meter freestyle relay to still win the regional championships by considerable margins. Kate Heintz (200-meter freestyle, and 500-meter freestyle), Corbyn Cormack (200-meter Individual Medley and 100-meter fly), Hailey Heldenbrand (50-meter freestyle), Jackson Pogue. (100-meter fly), and Max Hatcher (100-meter backstroke) all won their individual events. Cormack was named Region 2-6A Swimmer of the meet.
