The Texas Education Agency has approved Carroll ISD’s waiver request for the days of school missed February 16-19 due to the Texas winter storm. This waiver will allow for Carroll ISD to continue with the regular 2020-2021 school calendar without any makeup days or hours needed.
“Due to the substantial impact of the winter storm, TEA granted a Missed School Days waiver to districts who applied and qualified based on the weather and its related impacts,” said Dr. Janet McDade, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. “Our Dragon community was greatly affected by this event and we are humbled by the way our families continued to take care of each other even during this trying event.”
Friday, April 2 will remain a Bad Weather Day (school closed for students and staff) as long as there are no additional weather situations between now and then. The remainder of the school year will follow exactly what is listed on the CISD district calendar, with the additional of the three remaining Professional Development Half Day/Asynchronous Learning Afternoons on March 12, April 16 and April 30.
“After the difficult year we have had and the additional obstacles brought forth from the bad weather, I am grateful that the state showed empathy and understanding during the challenges we faced from the bad weather,” said Gina Peddy, Executive Director for Curriculum & Instruction.
