During the Board of Trustees regularly scheduled Board meeting on April 19, the CISD Board of Trustees unanimously named Dr. Courtney Carpenter as Carroll’s new Deputy Superintendent.
With more than 23 years of experience in education, Carpenter brings a wealth of knowledge to this role, and is is known for her strategic approach to goal implementation while engaging stakeholders in defining key measures of success that are driven by community and staff. She previously led Midlothian ISD as the Interim Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Administration overseeing curriculum departments, professional learning and leadership development.
“With her years of experience as an administrator, principal and teacher, Dr. Carpenter will be an asset to CISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Lane Ledbetter. “Dr. Carpenter is known as an innovative thinker and a connector, and she believes in forging relationships and bringing all perspectives to the table for dialogue and problem solving. Our district is excited that she will make Carroll her professional home.”
Dr. Carpenter earned her Bachelor’s degree in Academic Studies from Sam Houston State University, her Master’s degree in Educational Administration from University of North Texas, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. Carpenter has been married for 22 years to a teacher/coach, Craig, and together they have two children, Kelsey, who is a freshman at the University of Texas San Antonio, and Kasen, who is a sophomore in high school.

In her new role at Carroll ISD, Dr. Carpenter will supervise, evaluate and develop campus leadership throughout the district, and her position will be instrumental in the creation, implementation and oversight of the district strategic plan to ensure alignment, consistency and accountability. The Deputy Superintendent’s position will focus upon latest research to provide innovative approaches to meet the needs of all students, staff and the community.
