School Board Adds Monthly Board Workshops to 2021-2022 Schedule

The Board of Trustees voted at the April 19 Board Meeting to adjust the Board Meeting Schedule for the 2021-2022 school year to include one regular Board Meeting a month and one Board Workshop a month.

The School Board currently meets on the first and third Mondays of each month, and starting next school year the Trustees plan to hold one regular monthly meeting on the third Monday of each month beginning at 5 p.m., leaving availability for a Board Workshop to be called as needed on the first Monday of each month. The Board Workshops will continue to be open for the public to attend, and will consist of presentations from administrators and discussions amongst the trustees and central administration.

Transitioning to one regular meeting a month will allow for the Trustees to have more time after hearing presentations and recommendations from the CISD administration before taking a vote two weeks following at the Board Meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Lane Ledbetter believes that this move will lead to more transparency and communication between Carroll ISD and the community.

“These new workshops will provide more transparency to our community and allow our families to have a deeper understanding of items before they are brought to a vote In the regular Board Meeting setting,” Ledbetter said. “Trustees will also have more time to collect feedback from the community and ask for clarification from district staff.”

The Trustees will vote on the monthly schedule of workshops and meetings at an upcoming Board Meeting.
