David Markley Named Varsity Boys Head Basketball Coach

Carroll ISD is excited to announce David Markley as the new varsity boys head basketball coach for the Carroll Dragons.

Coach David Markley has over 12 years of experience in education and for the past nine years has served as the head basketball coach at Chisholm Trail High School in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. Prior to his time at Chisholm Trail, Coach Markley was the Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach at Colleyville Heritage High School for four years.

“Coach Markley is very passionate about coaching our Dragon athletes and helping them grow as young men,” said Carroll Athletic Director Steve Keasler. “He has proven to be a competitor and accepts challenges with a winning mentality. The longer I spoke to Coach Markley, the more certain I became that he was the right person to lead the boy’s basketball program.”

Coach Markley earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychosocial Kinesiology from Texas Christian University where he was a four-year letter winner. Coach Markley’s coaching experiences include:

  • Head Basketball Coach, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD (9 years);
    • Texas 5A UIL playoff appearances in 2016, 2017, & 2018
    • 5-5A District Championship, 2015-2016
  • Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach/Teacher, Grapevine Colleyville ISD (4 years)
  • Honors:
    • Mountain West Conference: Academic All-Conference
    • Conference USA: Academic All-Conference
    • TCU Basketball: Dr. James Cash Academic Award
