During the Board of Trustees regularly scheduled Board meeting on May 3, the CISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to hire Dr. Jim Calvin as the new Walnut Grove Elementary School principal.
Dr. Jim Calvin has 32 years of experience in education and began his career as an administrator in Carroll ISD, where he served as the Assistant Principal of Durham Elementary & Intermediate School. His wife, Nancy, is currently a teacher at Eubanks Intermediate School and they have three children that are current Dragons. Since leaving Carroll ISD 21 years ago, Dr. Calvin has been a principal in various districts throughout the DFW Metroplex.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Dr. Calvin to the Dragon family at Walnut Grove Elementary School,” said Superintendent Dr. Lane Ledbetter. “Dr. Calvin’s experience in education will be an incredible asset to the district, and we are confident that he will lead the team at Walnut Grove Elementary with excellence.”
Dr. Calvin earned his Bachelor’s degree in English Language Arts Education from Texas Wesleyan University, his Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas Christian University. Dr. Calvin will be filling the principal’s vacancy created by the retirement of Mike Landers. He will begin his new duties on July 20.
