How Southlake Streets and Drainage Crews Contribute to Community Safety

Although the Public Works Department is responsible for providing multiple services in Southlake by managing street curbs, medians, traffic and drainage systems, the streets and drainage crews are often our unseen heroes working to ensure that our community safe.

In the event of severe weather, the City deploys streets and drainage crews from Public Works to assist first responders to unblock roadways from flooding, trees, debris or other disaster relief efforts.

They also play an essential role in disaster preparedness by salting the roads.

This work often requires the streets and drainage team to work night and weekend shifts to ensure our infrastructure is well-maintained and safe for first responders, residents and visitors.

While the well-versed team actively takes preventative maintenance measures to ensure our drainage and stormwater systems are working efficiently, it’s imperative to know they are also working for you around the clock.
