Carroll ISD Launches New Board Meeting Structure

The Carroll Independent School District announced in April new and improved changes to its Board meeting structure beginning this month, July 2021. The new meeting structure will include the following:

  • First meeting of the month will be a special meeting providing the administration and Board of Trustees an opportunity to study and discuss in depth issues and challenges facing the district. During this special meeting, the public is welcome to provide input during the open comment portion of the special meeting as long as it aligns with that current special Board meeting’s agenda. This is outlined in legal policy as presented by Texas state law.
  • Second meeting of the month will continue to serve as the regular Board meeting where the Board of Trustees will meet to take action on district business. During this regularly monthly Board business meeting, public comment is welcome on any topic that is on the heart and mind of the district’s citizens.

For appropriate meeting dates, please review the Board meeting schedule posted online at the district’s website.

“This new structure provides more opportunities for our Board to do a deeper dive into important topics,” Michelle Moore, President of the CISD Board of Trustees, said. “This is an additional opportunity for us as a collective Board to have more meaningful discussions to share input and expectations, in partnership with our district’s leadership. Our district continues to want to improve and excel to new heights and we believe this format will allow us to be more informed and better decision makers.”

The first newly structured special meeting will begin on July 12, 2021 at 5 p.m. Agendas will continue to be posted online at www.southlakecarroll.edu on Fridays at 5 p.m. Additionally, open comment will continue to proceed as normal where any citizen may arrive and submit an open comment card to address the Board up to the time the Board meeting begins. If any citizen has any questions, please contact the district’s Executive Director of Communication and Engagement Karen Fitzgerald at karen.fitzgerald@southlakecarroll.edu.
