Southlake Clay Target Team Wins Third Place Team Skeet in Ohio and Crowns a National Champion

The Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio was the focus of scholastic target shooters as the Southlake Carroll Target Team attended the 2021 SCTP National Team Championships. Over 3,500 competitors from 33 states converged within the Buckeye State as this 2020-2021 scholastic clay target season came to a close.

The week was met with a lot of rain, mud, a runaway fawn and a few unfinished skeet fields. Despite tough conditions, the Dragon’s brought home the 3rd Place Skeet Team Award with the help of University of Arkansas bound Ben Martin, Purdue University bound Matthew Murday and Carroll Senior Connor Daily. Eighth Grade Dragon, Gunnar Reed had a great week and earned a first ever Individual SCTP National Championship for the SCTT Dragons. Gunnar scored 193/200 which included 75 straight in Intermediate/Entry Level Division to earn 1st Place in American Skeet. Gunnar also took home 2nd place in Intermediate /Entry Level Doubles Skeet. After a weeks competition in four different events and 700 rounds per competitor, SCTT finished a respectable 12th place in the Nation overall. Congratulations to Gunnar and SCTT for a job well done!
