Applications are now open for Southlake Kids Interested In Leadership (S.K.I.L.).

Applications are now open for Southlake Kids Interested In Leadership (S.K.I.L.).

The program was established in 2015 to enhance engagement with the City’s youth through educational and leadership opportunities. S.K.I.L was created in partnership between the City of Southlake, the Carroll Independent School District, and the Southlake Chamber of Commerce to provide a youth leadership program that forms a student and adult alliance for better government and a better Southlake.

In this program, students will get the opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day operations of local government, receive hands-on financial experience with TD Ameritrade, as well as enjoy a trip to the Texas State Capital in Austin, to learn more about the role of state government and processes in the legislature.

A total of 25 students will be selected by Carroll Senior High School. Starting new this year, the opportunity will be extended to 5 additional students residing in Southlake who are high school juniors and are enrolled in a private or home school.
