The Weekly Adventures of the Southlake Police Department (October 7th-October 13th, 2022)

Here are some of the many calls and incidents we responded to for the week of October 7th through October 13th, 2022:

–At Nordstrom Rack, a victim was distracted by a male with an Eastern European accent while his female accomplice stole her wallet from her purse in her shopping cart.  Credit cards were later used at Walgreens in Southlake.  We are working to find footage.

–At Urban Air, there was an altercation between kids playing a dodgeball game and one of the moms confronted the kids about it.  Another parent arrived and the arguing escalated and the other parent hit the initial one in the face multiple times.  The suspect fled before officers arrived.

–Westbound Highway 114 was shut down because of a 2-car accident with minor injuries.  One driver was arrested for DWI and Unlawful Carrying Weapon (UCW).

–A suspicious package was seen being placed near the Apple store.  Officers set a perimeter, evacuated several businesses, and the Bomb Squad showed up and deemed the package safe.

–Several roads in Town Square were closed early this morning for Oktoberfest.  The town is a flurry with excitement for the festival.

–An officer did a traffic stop and smelled marijuana from inside the car.  Marijuana and a stolen weapon were located during the PC search and the driver charged with UCW.

–Over $21,000 of construction materials were stolen off of Murphy Lane.  No surveillance video was available.

There was a minor crash around 1300 East Southlake Boulevard (think Del Frisco’s Grille area).  One of the drivers fled the scene wearing hospital scrubs.  Mi Cocina called us and said the suspect had run into the restaurant and was hiding inside.  Officers found the suspect, detained them, and the other driver provided positive ID that they were the driver of the vehicle that hit them and fled.  The driver in scrubs was arrested for DWI and transported to Baylor Grapevine with claims of an injury.
