Hot Summer Months Mean Smart Watering Schedules

Smart Irrigation Month, celebrated every July, highlights the importance of water conservation. The Water Utilities Team wants you to know that the City of Southlake operates under a year-round Stage One Drought Restriction.

With water being a precious resource, this watering restriction aims to conserve water during the day’s hottest hours. During these hours, much water is wasted due to evaporation.

Even addresses can water on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and odd addresses can water on Thursdays and Sundays. All commercial addresses, including HOAs, can water on Tuesdays and Fridays. All irrigation watering must be performed between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.

“We have plenty of free resources to assist with managing your irrigation system and lawns,” said Madisson Dunn, Environmental & Regulatory Supervisor for Public Works. “Weekly Watering Advice provides real-time watering advice based on weather patterns in our area. Texas Smartscape provides drought-resistant and native plant types best suited for our climate, saving you water and money. The WISE Guys Program is also a great tool to evaluate the efficiency of your irrigation system to help save water. And there is always our Eye on Water App, which enables you to monitor your water usage.”
