The City is excited to honor those who have bravely served their country in a special Veterans Day program to be held November 11th at 9:00 a.m. on the steps of Town Hall.
The public is invited to attend and take part in this opportunity to express our City’s genuine thanks and gratitude for the selflessness and dedication of our Hometown Heroes – heroes who play vital roles in our community.
“We hope this event helps build a strong sense of patriotism and unity within our city and is the first of many to come,” Robert Briggs, a veteran, and the City’s Operations Manager for Special Projects said. “Many people don’t realize how many Veterans we have in Southlake and how much they bring to our community. This is a way to say thank you.”
There are many ways the City aimed to do just that, including performances from the Community Band, customized pole banners displaying community-nominated Veterans, and hosting a distinguished Vietnam War Veteran as a guest Keynote speaker.
“The banners are a visible expression of our gratitude for the service of these local Veterans and a way for the community to connect with the individuals honored,” Briggs explained. “We’re also grateful to host Lieutenant General Richard E. Carey as our Keynote speaker, whose distinguished military career and service during the Vietnam War make him an exciting guest.”
