Celebrate the Season of Giving with these Local Organizations!

Want to be part of spreading joy this holiday season? Check out these local organizations creating holiday happiness for great causes and find a volunteer or give-back opportunity that is right for you!

GRACE is dedicated to supporting individuals facing financial insecurity or unexpected emergencies. The organization operates a food pantry and a medical clinic, offers emergency assistance, organizes access to traditional housing, and much more.

Volunteering with GRACE provides a multitude of opportunities—whether it’s at the holiday-themed Christmas Cottage, which provides Christmas gifts for kids in a store-like setting, or in year-round roles at the various GRACE establishments. You can contribute your time at the Grapevine and Euless resale stores, the Donation Station, the Food Pantry, or the Community Garden.

Those with specialized skills can also participate in opportunities at the Clinic, in Client Services, or with the Traditional Housing office.

If you don’t see an opportunity that is a good fit for you but are interested in working with this organization, there’s no need to fear!

“We love to work with our volunteers to incorporate their ideas and interests,” Anni Hengesbach-Gomes, Volunteer and Public Relations Coordinator explained. “There are plenty of opportunities for the public to get involved this holiday season!”

SafeHaven is an organization dedicated to advocating against and providing resources for those affected by domestic violence. Offering crucial services such as shelter, counseling, legal aid, and housing, SafeHaven works tirelessly to eliminate domestic violence in Tarrant County.

If this is an organization you would like to contribute to, consider volunteering for the Bring the Joy Gift drive taking place now through December 12th at the Arlington Downtown Library. This drive aims to provide gifts for babies, kids, teens, and moms staying in SafeHaven’s two emergency domestic violence shelters.

If you don’t have time to volunteer in person but still want to help out, you can also purchase items on their Bring the Joy Holiday Amazon Wish List!

If you are interested in volunteering with SafeHaven, visit their Volunteer Page or email Katey Pirot at kpirot@safehaventc.org.

Metroport Meals on Wheels

Metroport Meals on Wheels is an organization that focuses on serving senior citizens to combat hunger and isolation while upholding the worth and dignity of each individual served. The organization achieves this by delivering meals to those unable to leave their homes, making comfort calls when needed, and hosting community meals at the senior center, among other activities.

For those interested in contributing, consider volunteering to deliver meals or serve lunch to seniors on Mondays at the Marq!

Or, if you are short on time, you can participate in the organization’s Stockings for Seniors program. Stockings may be selected from the tree at Sadie’s Upscale Consignment and Resale. Each stocking lists specific gifts you may purchase and donate.

Interested in finding additional opportunities or volunteering in one of the ways listed above? Check out their Volunteer Page to get involved.
