City of Southlake Wins PRSA Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation for Innovative Social Media Safety Campaign

"Spontaneous and Safe on Southlake DPS's Socials"

City Councilmember Randy Robbins, along with City Councilmember Frances Scharli and Public Information Office Brad Uptmore were in attendance to accept this award.

City Councilmember Frances Scharli expressed pride in the award and emphasized Southlake’s dedication to safety. “Public safety is a top priority, and we are committed to finding creative ways to engage our community while keeping people safe,” Scharli said. “This award is a testament to our dedicated team and their innovative approach.”

The PRSA  Bronze Anvil Award honors the best in public relations tactics, recognizing outstanding public relations that contribute to the success of overall programs or campaigns. It is one of the most respected awards in the industry, representing the gold standard in public relations.

Southlake City Manager Alison Ortowski praised the creative approach taken by the City’s Department of Public Safety (DPS). “Our team understands that safety messages don’t have to be dull or mundane, Ortowski said. “This award validates our efforts to think outside the box and make safety education engaging and easily understood.”

It’s not the first time PRSA has recognized Southlake. In 2019, the City won a Silver Anvil Award for “Humanizing the Badge—Most Effective Campaign $5,000 or Less, Government.” This award recognized the City’s efforts to humanize law enforcement officers and bridge the gap between the community and the police department.
