The Southlake Departments of Public Safety’s Facebook page was recently named “Facebook Favorite” in the 2020 Government Social Media Golden Post Awards.  They also took home a finalist award for the “Best Facebook Presence.”

The honor was awarded in August during a virtual ceremony.

“What made this award even more special is that Facebook team members selected our Facebook page as the winner,” said Interim Police Chief Ashleigh Casey. “It means a great deal that they recognize the investment we have made into this community page.

According to the Government Social Media website – “Southlake DPS was chosen for its excellent content that helps humanize their combined police and fire department entity, get important messages to the people they serve and make their followers excited to be members of the community.”

Government Social Media also mentioned the Southlake Fire Station Tour/Ride, Coming Soon to Universal Studios! video that showed kids who were stuck at home this past spring, a Southlake fire department virtual tour as a first-day “rookie.”

“Giving kids a tour of the fire department is a part of the job that our team looks forward to,” said Chief Mike Starr. “During the current pandemic, this is the next best thing, and the team had a great time pulling it together and posting it for our younger followers.”

The “Golden Post Awards” is Government Social Media’s annual award program exclusively designed to honor outstanding use of social media by U.S. local and state government agencies.
