From Student Leader to City Leader: Getting to Know Councilmember Eric Wang

Councilmember Eric Wang reflects on the experiences, community involvement, and family values that inspired a lifelong commitment to serving Southlake.

Service to the community has been a defining part of Councilmember Eric Wang’s journey. In this episode of SLK City Spotlight, Wang revisits Carroll Senior High School, where he reflects on the experiences and opportunities that helped shape his connection to Southlake. He shares how growing up in a family dedicated to public service influenced his desire to serve others.


From representing his neighborhood through the Southlake Program for the Involvement of Neighborhoods (SPIN) to volunteering with Southlake Sister Cities, Wang became involved in community life at an early age. Those formative experiences fostered a lifelong commitment to civic engagement that continues to guide his work on City Council today.
