The Southlake Senior Activity Center is remembering one of its beloved members, Ruby Louise Buffalo. Ruby passed away on February 9, 2024, at the impressive young age of 105 years, seven months, and six days old.

An active member of the Senior Center, Ruby was honored by then-Mayor Laura Hill, who proclaimed July 3, 2018, as Ruby Buffalo Day in the City of Southlake in celebration of her 100th birthday.

Born in Carlisle, Arkansas, she and her husband, John, made Southlake, Texas their home in 1998 to be near their daughter and grandchildren. Ruby and John attended the Senior Center together before John’s passing after 77 years of marriage. Afterward, Ruby was a frequent visitor of the Senior Activity Center for the weekly lunches.

She loved her family & friends, enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her cherished poodles. She also enjoyed traveling in the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Throughout her life, Ruby demonstrated a deep commitment to giving back to the community by volunteering at area hospitals. She visited White’s Chapel Methodist Church often, where she loved attending faith-based classes.

Ruby possessed a brilliant mind, an empathetic heart, and an infectious zest for life.

She will be greatly missed and remembered as the impressive lady she was by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
