Just because our nights are a little longer, doesn’t mean you can’t stay active.

Before you head out on your evening stroll, here are a few safety tips for walking at night.

  1. Wear reflective clothing–

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, 76% of pedestrian fatalities occur in dark conditions. Reflective clothing can enhance visibility.

  1. Walk on the sidewalk or path facing traffic –

Walking toward traffic helps motorists better see you and you can see them as well.

  1. Make eye contact –

Establish eye contact or adjust your movement to make sure motorists are aware of your presence.

Although daylight savings time may be some time away, sunny days are in the near future. Stay warm and stay safe.
