Over the last couple of weeks, the Southlake Mobility Team has worked diligently to ensure the safety of our younger citizens before they return to school.

School zone flashers were tested, several crosswalks were re-striped and new school times were posted on all school zone signs.

Although essential traffic safety measures are in place, you can help the Southlake Mobility Team by talking to your kids about pedestrian safety.

Here are few tips to share with your children.

  1. Use the sidewalk when possible.
  2. Look both ways before you cross the street.
  3. Use marked crosswalks when possible or cross at intersections.
  4. Avoid using electronics when crossing the street.
  5. Refrain from standing too close to the curb.
  6. Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before attempting to board.
