The Southlake Police Department is proud to welcome Officer Bryce Lee to our force by way of the Coppell Police Department.

Officer Lee is originally from Del Rio, Texas, and growing up has lived in California, New Mexico, North Carolina, England, and Texas.  His father was career Air Force, and he followed in his footsteps as an F-16 mechanic.  While in the Air Force, he was stationed in South Korea, Arizona, and Texas.  He served 12 years in active duty and finished the last 8 of his careers in the Reserves, where he had been deployed to Afghanistan in 2016.  After that he completed his BA in Criminal Justice from the University of North Texas in Denton.

In his police life, Officer Lee served as a patrol Corporal for the last three years.  He has trained to be on bike patrol, mobile field force, an FTO, and a member of the Honor Guard.  He had gone to the police academy with Southlake PD’s own Detective Jenkins, and heeded his advice to try a new department.

While being a police officer for over 8 years, one career moment for Officer Lee came in 2015.  He had arrested a man for DWI and a month after the arrest, the man came to the police station and asked to meet him.  He told Officer Lee that while in jail, he had a moment of clarity and credited him with saving his life.  The man had begun to work on his life by fighting alcohol dependency and now helps others with substance abuse.  To this day, Officer Lee still has lunches every so often and considers this man a friend.  Officer Lee said “that incident showed me that doing this job right and treating everyone respectfully can have far reach positive effects in the lives that we meet.”

Officer Lee has been impressed with Southlake’s focus on quality training and developing important policing skills.  He loves the camaraderie between officers and the command staff and said that Southlake is definitely a rewarding place to serve.
