After last year’s triumphant debut, the Southlake Arts Council, in collaboration with the APEX Arts League, is bringing this award-winning art show back to Town Hall. The Southlake Presents art show and competition is the only public art exhibit that exclusively features work created by Southlake local talent.

What made last year’s event so memorable? According to Arts Council Secretary Beatriz Terrazas, it was “seeing how excited the artists who were selected were when they realized they were selected! When they were there [at the reception] and everyone was amazed at their art, I thought that was really great!”

This is the opportunity for you if you are a skilled visual artist living in Southlake wanting public exposure for your work. Applications open on Monday, February 13, and close on Friday, March 24. The Southlake Arts Council will jury all submissions and select the finalists towards the end of March.

Selected work will be displayed in the Town Hall Lobby from May 12, to June 30. A public art reception will take place on May 14 at 5:00 PM.Artist smiling in front of her work

Rules and Eligibility:

  • Artists must be 18 years old or over and have graduated from high school. Students need not apply.
  • Must provide proof of residence within Southlake City limits.
  • Artists can submit up to three recent works for consideration. (Recent means produced within the last two years).
  • Work must be 2D and ready to hang. (Ready to hang means framed and wired for hanging. Unprepared work will not be displayed).
  • Work must be original and created by the artists. Larger frames show best in the space.
  • Previous applicants are welcome to apply again, but must submit new pieces from the previous year.
  • Work must be “family appropriate,” with no sexual, bloody, or violent content allowed.

Keep an eye out on the Southlake Public Art website for the application to open in February and more information.

We can’t wait to see what the Southlake community creates!
