Meet Bella Uceda, the Emergency Management Specialist for the City of Southlake. Bella started with the Office of Emergency Management in January of this year as an intern while finishing her degree at the University of Texas at Arlington. Upon completion of her degree, Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Bella was offered a full-time position as the emergency management specialist in May. “After interning for The City of Southlake during a pandemic, I learned first-hand how effective their Emergency Management Team is at mitigating any disaster that is thrown their way, as well as how tight-knit the community is,” Bella said. “Once my internship ended, I knew that there was no other place I could see myself and I am so incredibly lucky to be able to continue to work for and learn under such great mentors.” Bella’s focus is on ensuring that the City of Southlake can thrive in any emergency situation that the City may face whether it be a public health emergency or natural disaster. Bella will be working under the Emergency Manager, Amanda Meneses, to update City emergency operation plans to ensure the overall readiness and resiliency of the Southlake community.
