New Speed Limit on North Kimball Avenue from SH 114 to E. Dove Road

Motorists may have noticed a new posted speed limit of 40 mph on North Kimball Avenue from State Highway (SH) 114 to East Dove Road.

At the June 16, 2015 City Council meeting, Ordinance No. 1043A was passed that set the speed limit on North Kimball Avenue from State Highway (SH) 114 to East Dove Road to 40 miles per hour (mph) – the current speed limit is 35 mph.

The slightly faster speed limit reflects changes to the road due to Phase II of the Kimball Avenue Widening project, in which North Kimball Avenue from SH 114 to East Dove Road was widened from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway. The change in the speed limits also reflects the results of a speed zone study that was used to determine a suggested speed for this stretch of North Kimball Avenue. Based on the results of speed data collected during the speed study, 40 mph was determined to be the optimal speed for this section of road.

In the weeks following the adoption of the new speed limit ordinance, Public Work street crews constructed and installed the signs along this section of North Kimball Avenue. Please be aware of the new speed limit and, as always, drive safely!
