Dragon Baseball Faces Plano in Bi-District Playoff Series

The Dragon baseball team begins the Class 6A playoffs this week.

Carroll, the District 5-6A champions, faces Plano in a Class 6A Region I Bi-District playoff series. The series begins Friday at 7 p.m. at Plano Prestonwood Christian.

Plano was the fourth-place team in District 6-6A. Game 2 will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday at Prestonwood and Game 3 (if necessary) would follow 30 minutes later.

The winner of this series faces the winner of Waco Midway vs. Irving Nimitz next week in the area round.

Carroll finished the regular season last Friday with 4-3 extra-inning loss to Hebron. The Dragons are 22-9-1 and went 11-3 in district.

The Dragons are led on the mound by Arkansas signee Kole Ramage, who has two previous years of playoff starting experience.

Dragon Baseball Opens Season in Houston Tournament

The Carroll Dragon baseball team opened the 2017 season last weekend in Houston.

This marks the first year under new coach Larry Vucan.

The Dragons went 3-3 in the tournament and finished with two victories on Tuesday against Klein Collins (5-4) and Houston Stratford (4-2).

In the victory against Stratford, junior pitcher Nicco Cole went seven innings on the mound and had six strikeouts. Catcher Matt Werner had two hits and Jack McBride, Cade Bell and Kole Ramage had RBIs.

Carroll returns to action this week in its second tournament. The Dragons face Colleyville Heritage at Mansfield Lake Ridge High School at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons will follow with a game at 4 p.m. vs. Conroe Oakridge.

Carroll Golf Teams State Bound

LDGOLFThe Carroll boys’ and girls’ golf teams both qualified for the Class 6A golf tournament in Georgetown April 25-26.

The Dragons, the defending state champions, claimed the 6A Region I tournament title in Arlington and were led by top medalist Colin Kober. The rest of the championship team included Max Kettler, Caden Honea, Mason Greenberg, Brandon McKelvey and Jacob Kelber.

The Lady Dragons finished as the 6A Region I runnerup. Lady Dragon Malak Bouraeda tied for second overall and led the way for the Lady Dragons. The rest of the regional runnerup team included Emily Martin, Emily Zhou, Simrin Gill, Karen Lee and Gaby Kackley.
