Adult Ballet Classes Coming to Southlake Parks and Recreation This June

Have you always wanted to learn ballet? This class is perfect for you! Students will sculpt a dancer’s physique while learning ballet fundamentals from former professional dancer Kristina Mitchell Simmons.

This class is also a great fit for former dancers and athletes of other disciplines.

Instructor Kristina Mitchell Simmons is a Southlake mom who is a former professional ballet dancer with a Master of Fine Arts in dance teaching and choreography. Each 75-minute class will take you through barre, stretching and center work. Participants must be at least 16 years old.

Southlake Recreation Kicking off Fall with New Adult Programs!

The kids aren’t the only ones who get to have fun. Southlake Recreation offers a wide range of programs and athletic leagues for adults (18+) so everybody can get in on the action!

Women’s Self-Defense (Ages 18+)- This class will empower women to fight back by teaching techniques on how to survive an attack from an assailant. The class will also cover escapes from nonthreatening annoyance attacks, defense from chokes and strangles, defense against attacks from the front and from behind, what to do if you are tackled and brought to the ground and much more.

Prenatal Yoga (Ages 18+)- Learn poses and pranayama (breath work) to help make your pregnancy and birth the best it can be. Dr. Pam Kendall is a maternity chiropractor and 200 hour yoga instructor. Join her as she teaches you some poses and postures to ease some of the discomforts that can often come whele being pregnant.

Fit4Mom-Body Back (Ages 18+)- Body Back is a results-based workout program designed by and for moms. Experience High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), total-body workouts that challenge even the elite athlete. Our safe and effective workouts address the body of the postnatal woman, whether she had her baby six months ago or 20 years ago.

Wanting to learn to play the guitar? Beginner Guitar class is the perfect fit for you. Learn to play the guitar at a beginning level and learn many of the different styles, skills and techniques required to become a successful guitarist.

Learn the fun, fast and easy way to dance with our variety of dance classes. Ballroom Dance, Country Western Dance and Line Dancing are all classes offered to you! Learn how to two-step and West Coast Swing in a fun-filled atmosphere, learn how to line dance to the most popular dances, and learn how to Waltz, Rumba and Swing.

Get your groove on with the Bollywood Dance program, where you can learn the dance moves of your favorite movie stars and have a little fun while getting some amazing exercise.
