DFW Airport: Strong West Crosswinds Possible Next 36 Hours

The City of Southlake has received the following information regarding strong west cross winds from the DFW Airport Noise Office:

The National Weather Service is forecasting strong NNW winds, of 20 to 30mph for the remainder of today, February 23rd and through 4PM Wednesday February 24th. There is a slight chance that these winds could become more westerly and maintain their forecast velocities. If this occurs the Airport may shift into west flow operations to cope with the cross winds, using Runway 31L and 31R as necessary for jet departures and arrivals. At present the greatest likelihood of west flow occurring is between about 6AM and 4PM tomorrow.

More information about the response to high velocity west cross winds is available on DFW’s website at the dfwairport.com link under “High Velocity West Winds”: http://www.dfwairport.com/inthecommunity/aircraft_noise.php.

We encourage citizens with inquiries or complaints to contact us. The web address for the Noise Office is dfwnoise@dfwairport.com. The telephone Hotline, 972-973-3192, is manned 24/7. Follow-up response calls or emails will be provided when requested.
