Boy Scout Austin Louis Simer Honored for Attaining Eagle Scout Award

At the Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 City Council meeting, Mayor Laura Hill recognized Boy Scout Austin Louis Simer for attaining the Eagle Scout Award. The Eagle Scout Award is Boy Scouting’s highest honor to achieve.

Boy Scouting’s highest honor is achieving the Eagle Scout Award and only 1% of all scouts ever achieve this rank; and,

Whereas, on November 20, 2016, Boy Scout Austin Louis Simer, from Troop 168, will be recognized by the Boy Scouts of America for successfully completing all requirements for Scouting’s highest rank; and,

Whereas, one of the major objectives in the Scouting program is to develop citizenship through community involvement, and in addition to working for citizenship merit badges, Scouts are encouraged to participate in community service projects.  For his Eagle Scout Project, Austin built three wooden game tables with benches for the playground at Old Union Elementary School; and,

Whereas, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest form of recognition in the Boy Scouts of America and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.  Having completed the requirements for, and having been examined by an Eagle Scout Board Review, Austin was found worthy of the rank of Eagle Scout; now,

Therefore, I, Mayor Laura Hill, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby recognize Austin’s outstanding achievements and superior spirit of service to his community.

Boy Scout Harrison Alexander Peyrovi Honored for Attaining Eagle Scout Award

At the Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 City Council meeting, Mayor Laura Hill recognized Boy Scout Harrison Alexander Peyrovi for attaining the Eagle Scout Award. The Eagle Scout Award is Boy Scouting’s highest honor to achieve.

Whereas, on November 20, 2016, Boy Scout Harrison Alexander Peyrovi, from Troop 168, will be recognized by the Boy Scouts of America for successfully completing all requirements for Scouting’s highest rank; and,

Whereas, one of the major objectives in the Scouting program is to develop citizenship through community involvement, and in addition to working for citizenship merit badges, Scouts are encouraged to participate in community service projects.  For his Eagle Scout Project, Harrison created a bike safety video for the students at Durham Intermediate School; and,

Whereas, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest form of recognition in the Boy Scouts of America and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.  Having completed the requirements for, and having been examined by an Eagle Scout Board Review, Harrison was found worthy of the rank of Eagle Scout; now,

Therefore, I, Mayor Laura Hill, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby recognize Harrison’s outstanding achievements and superior spirit of service to his community.
