Southlake Fire Department Earns CFAI Accreditation for 15th Year

FirePatchNoBackgroundOn May 5, 2014, the Southlake Fire Department was informed that the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) voted unanimously to accept the Southlake Fire Department’s Annual Compliance Report (ACR). As part of the yearly accreditation process, the quality of Southlake’s fire and emergency services is measured against the Commission on Fire Safety International’s globally recognized bench marking system.

Every year, the Fire Department prepares and submits an ACR to the Commission. The report updates the Commission on the Department’s progress in meeting various quality and service delivery improvement goals, and compliance with Commission standards. The submitted report is then reviewed by a Technical Review Committee member, and later by the Commission Board who makes a final vote to decide whether or not to approve the continuation of a fire agency’s accreditation.

Fire Chief Mike Starr says, “Accreditation is one aspect of the Fire Department’s commitment to excellence and it serves as a learning experience that allows the Department to assess the gains we’ve made, set performance goals, and develop short-term action and long-term strategic plans.”

Commending the Fire Department on their success, CFAI Chairman R. Allen Cain stated: “Your continued dedication to the self-assessment process will certainly result in the continued professional development of your organization.”
