Southlake’s Spookiest Family Campout a Huge Success

Ghosts, goblins and good times were found lurking around families at the 3rd Annual Haunted Family Campout in Bob Jones Park!

Everyone had a howling good time as families gathered for the annual Haunted Family Campout on Saturday and Sunday, October 7-8. Guests spent the night in tents at Bob Jones Park and experienced a night of camping in Southlake, Halloween style. Campers also enjoyed spooky story time with Mr. DeCee, lots of family friendly Halloween activities among decorated campsites.

“This is a very good family campout experience. Thanks for all your organizing and effort. Look forward to the next campout,” said one camper. And another said, “The whole family liked it very much, we all enjoyed it. We will definitely be back next spring. Thanks for all the staff’s help!” Don’t worry families, staff is already looking forward to planning the 4th Annual Haunted Family Campout!

Southlake’s spookiest family campout is back!

Ghosts, ghouls, goblins and good times are waiting for you and your family at the Haunted Family Campout at Bob Jones Park! For the second year, Southlake’s Fall Family Campout will be haunted! In addition to all the traditional fun campout activities there will be prizes for the spookiest campsite and best costume, a haunted trail, and other family friendly Halloween activities.

The event will be held from October 10 at 4:00 PM to October 11 at 9:00 AM. The cost is $16 per campsite which covers a single camper, each additional camper is $10 with a max of five campers per campsite. Southlake's annual Spring Family Campout will be held May 16 – 17, 2015

It might be hard to believe with all the crazy weather we’ve had lately, but spring is actually right around the corner! Before we know it, the sun will be shining, flowers will be blooming and Southlake will be full of green again. What better way to enjoy the beautiful Texas weather in the spring then with a campout for the whole family! Southlake’s annual Spring Family Campout is also the perfect way to celebrate National Kids to Parks Day on May 16!

Southlake Parks and Recreation wants to help your family re-connect with nature. Campout activities will focus on teaching the whole family explore and enjoy nature and this beautiful world around us. We will practice Leave No Trace principles while keeping an eye out for Texas wildlife – and even take a shot at trying to find the Milky Way!

The campout will be Saturday, May 16 – Sunday, May 17 at the Bob Jones Park Day Camp Area (near the BooBoo’s Buddies Dog Park). Tent set up will begin at 4:00 PM on Saturday. The cost is $25.00 per campsite, which includes the cost for two campers. Each additional camper is $10.00 and there is a limit of five people per campsite. The registration fee includes dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday morning. Children must register with at least one adult.

Haunted Fall Family Campout will be Held October 11-12

Family CampouGet ready for a new twist to the traditional fall family campout! Ghosts, goblins, goodies and fun are lurking in the woods of Bob Jones Park! The fall campout will be a howling good time as we put a Halloween twist to this annual favorite.

The campout will be Saturday, October 11 –  Sunday, October 12 at the Bob Jones Park Day Camp Area (near the BooBoo’s Buddies Dog Park). Tent set up may begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $25.00 per campsite, which includes the cost for two  campers. Each additional camper is $10.00 and there is a limit of five people per campsite. The registration fee includes dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday morning. Children must register with at least one adult.

Campers will hike, play games, roast marshmallows and listen to stories around the campfire. In addition to all the typical campout activities, there will be a haunted trail, prizes for the spookiest campsite and the best costume and other family-friendly Halloween activities. There will even be a speical guest to introduce campers to some ‘spooky’ and slimy critters!

City of Southlake staff will help with tent set-up and tear down, prepare dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning and will have plenty of fun activities for the family.  Participants are welcome to pick and choose which actives they would like to partake in or are just welcome to relax by the fire.

Spring is almost here! The weather is beautiful, the trees are budding, what could be a better way to get outside and enjoy nature than camping with the whole family? Southlake Parks and Recreation’s annual Spring Family Campout is the perfect family trip for beginner and expert campers!

The campout will be Saturday, May 3 –  Sunday, May 4 at the Bob Jones Park Day Camp Area (near the BooBoo’s Buddies Dog Park). Tent set up may begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $25.00 per campsite, which includes the cost for two  campers. Each additional camper is $10.00 and there is a limit of five people per campsite. The registration fee includes dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday morning. Children must register with at least one adult.

For the novice campers, City of Southlake staff will help with tent set-up and tear down, prepare dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning and will have plenty of fun activities for the family. Your camping experience will include after-dark games, Storytime with the Southlake Library, s’mores around the fire and star gazing. The Southlake Family Campout is the perfect introduction to camping!

For those campers who like it more rugged, there will be hiking around Lake Grapevine, fishing at Bob Jones Park and geocaching. Participants are welcome to pick and choose which actives they would like to partake in or are just welcome to relax by the fire.

Fall Family Campout 2013: New Rescheduled Date set for Oct 19-20!

Summer has ended and cooler temperatures are upon us. It’s time to head outside again with the family and enjoy the great outdoors and everything nature has to offer. Join us for the annual Fall Family Campout! The campout will be Saturday, October 19th though Sunday, October 20th at the Bob Jones Park Day Camp area (near BooBoo’s Buddies Dog Park). Tent set up begins at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Activities will include hiking, playing games, roasting marshmallows and listening to stories around the campfire.  The family can also participate in our annual scavenger hunt, learn about geocaching and do a little star gazing!The cost is $25.00 per campsite, which includes the cost for two  campers. Each additional camper is $10.00 and there is a limit of five people per campsite. The registration fee includes dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday morning. Children must register with at least one adult.
