Hoops Update: Lady Dragons Meet Duncanville in First Round

The Carroll Lady Dragons finished the regular season at 17-14 overall and took fourth place in District 7-6A.

The Lady Dragons advance to the playoffs and face undefeated Duncanville (33-0) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington High School in a Class 6A bi-district playoff. Duncanville is the No. 2-ranked team in the nation. Carroll finished the regular season with a 54-38 loss last Tuesday against Colleyville Heritage. Priscilla Smeenge led the Lady Dragons with 14 points.



Hoops Update: Dragons Earn Third-Place Tourney Finish

DragonHoopsThe Carroll Dragon boys’ basketball team is coming off an impressive showing in the Cedar Hill Tournament last week.

The Dragons, now 6-6 overall, defeated El Paso Andress and No. 5-ranked Converse Judson before losing to host Cedar Hill in the semifinal. The Dragons also defeated Houston Madison to finish third.

Carroll returns to action Tuesday, Dec. 15 in a girls-boys varsity doubleheader at Carroll Senior High School.

The Lady Dragons (8-7 overall) face Haltom in District 7-6A action at 6:30 p.m. and the Dragons follow in a non-district meeting with Mansfield at 8 p.m.

Hoops Update: Lady Dragons Remain Undefeated

The Carroll Lady Dragon basketball remained undefeated in District 7-6A with a 70-55 victory last Friday against L.D. Bell. Carroll is 8-0 in district.DragonBBALL

Kennedy Leonard led the Lady Dragons with 23 points. Priscilla Smeenge added 18 points and Anna Hurlburt scored 15. The Lady Dragons, who have a bye on Tuesday, scored 25 points in the first quarter and led 39-17 at halftime. Carroll returns to action Friday at Coppell at 6:30 p.m.

Dragons Stifle L.D. Bell
The Carroll Dragon boys’ basketball team added another key district victory last Friday racing past L.D. Bell 56-33. The Dragons improved to 11-7 overall and 4-2 in 7-6A action. The Dragons were led by Kirk Mason’s game-high 19 points. Hunter Summy added 11 points. Carroll, which is also off on Tuesday, held Bell below 10 points in three quarters. The Dragons return to action Friday at Coppell at 8 p.m.

The Dragon are tied with Colleyville Heritage in second place in 7-6A. Richland leads the league at 6-0. Coppell is in fourth place at 3-3.

Carroll Teams Earn Sweep vs. Coppell

DragonBBALLThe Carroll basketball teams earned a doubleheader sweep in District 7-6A action on Tuesday against Coppell at Carroll Senior High School.

The Lady Dragons opened the night with a 62-33 victory against Coppell. Carroll jumped out to a 15-1 in the first quarter. Kennedy Leonard led the Lady Dragons with 22 points and Priscilla Smeenge added 19. Natalie Flexer scored nine points.

The Dragons completed the sweep with a 62-50 victory against Coppell to open 7-6A action. Lil’ Jordan Humphrey scored a team-high 19 points, Kirk Mason added 16 and Holden Taylor had 10.

Both Carroll teams return to action Friday at Richland. The girls tipoff at 6:30 p.m. followed by the boys at 8 p.m.



Carroll Basketball Teams Sweep Fossil Ridge

The following is an update of Tuesday’s night results for the Carroll basketball teams…

Dragons Slip Past Fossil Ridge
Behind a second-half rally, the Carroll Dragons moved to .500 in District 4-5A action with a 57-56 victory against Fossil Ridge Tuesday at Carroll Senior High School. Daniel Brown led the way for the Dragons with 18 points and Ray Crockett chipped in 12 points. Brett Jolly added 11. Carroll (13-9, 2-2 in 4-5A) trailed by eight points at halftime but outscored Fossil Ridge 31-22 in the second half. The Dragons’ defense held the Panthers to seven points in the fourth quarter. Carroll returns to action Friday on the road at Haltom. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.

Lady Dragons Roll To Victory
The Lady Dragons smothered Fossil Ridge in a 71-33 home victory Tuesday night. Carroll was led by senior guard Kami Mickens, who finished with a game-high 14 points. Savannah Nauwelaers added 13, while Lexi Smith scored 12 and Kennedy Leonard chipped in 11. Carroll’s defense held Fossil Ridge to three single-digit quarters. The Lady Dragons (10-7, 4-1) exploded in the third quarter with 26 points. Carroll returns to action at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Haltom.
