The Dragons added another 10-0 regular season, the first since 2011, with a convincing 38-14 victory against L.D.Bell at Pennington Field. This year also marked a difficult regular season schedule, highlighted by the newly-aligned District 7-6A, regarded as one of the state’s toughest districts.
The District 7-6A champions begin the postseason Friday. The Dragons face Mansfield in a Class 6A Division II bi-district playoff game at 9 p.m. at AT&T Stadium. This will mark the first meeting between the two teams. Mansfield went 7-3 in the regular season and 4-2 in 8-6A, which included a 49-34 victory against powerhouse Cedar Hill.
Against Bell, the Dragons broke the game open in the third quarter after leading 17-7 at halftime. Quarterback Ryan Agnew was 13-for-18 with 189 yards and three TD passes. Running back Lil’ Jordan Humphrey added 98 yards rushing and one TD. Parker Fentriss was the leading receiver with five catches for 61 yards and one TD.
Bell was held to 156 total yards, while the Dragons finished with 378.
Tickets for the Dragon football playoff game Friday go on sale Tuesday at Dragon Stadium, Carroll High School and Carroll Senior High School. Fans can purchase tickets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Dragon Stadium from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Carroll High and Carroll Senior High from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students. All tickets at the game are $10 and parking is $10. Carroll is the home team and fans should use parking lots 1, 2, 3 and 10.
