State Tennis Qualifiers End Season In Quarterfinals

AUSTIN – The Carroll Dragons sent a record number of tennis qualifiers to the Class 5A tennis tournament this week in Austin.

In each of the three events, the Dragons had quarterfinal finishes. Girls’ singles player Kelley Anderson fell in the quarterfinal round 6-4, 6-3 to Austin Westlake’s Meredith Hopson. The Lady Dragon girls’ doubles team of Brittaney McCasin and Meredith Hope fell in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. The Dragon boys’ doubles team of Eshan Dave and Collin Alexander lost 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.

The quarterfinal and semifinal round matches were held Monday at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center at the University of Texas. The finals were held Tuesday.
