Around The Horn: Baseball, Softball Seasons Underway

The Carroll Dragon baseball team kicked off the season at the Round Rock tournament last weekend. The Dragons had a successful trip and finished 4-1. Carroll, ranked No. 4 in the state by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, defeated Round Rock McNeil 11-3, Austin Anderson 11-1, Round Rock 3-1 and Brenham 6-2. The Dragons’ only loss was to Austin High 14-5. Carroll returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Colleyville Heritage.

Lady Dragons Go 4-0 In Home Tourney
The Lady Dragons hosted the Southlake Carroll Tournament at Bob Jones Park last weekend. The Lady Dragons went 4-0 and defeated Belton 7-3, Carrollton Creekview 11-1, McKinney 4-0 and Irving Nimitz 25-2. The Lady Dragons’ pitching shined as they allowed just six runs in the tournament. Carroll improved to 9-2 overall and begins District 4-5A play Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Keller Central.
