The Carroll basketball teams are hosting “Pack the House” night Friday at Carroll Senior High School.
The Lady Dragons (22-3 overall , 12-0 in district) face Fossil Ridge (5-7 in district) at 6 p.m. in their final regular season home game. The Lady Dragons have clinched the District 4-5A championship and are gearing for the upcoming Class 5A playoffs. The Dragons face Fossil Ridge at 7:30 p.m. aiming to stay in the playoff hunt. Carroll is 11-11 overall and 4-6 in District 4-5A. Fossil Ridge is 18-7, 8-2.
Free prizes and T-shirts will be given away and there will be an iPad Mini giveaway. Carroll and Dawson Middle School basketball players will also be honored.
The Carroll Lady Dragon basketball team faces Lubbock Coronado at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in a Class 5A Region I Quarterfinal at McMurry University in Abilene. The Lady Dragons (23-9) advanced after knocking off El Paso Franklin last Friday 72-45 in Big Spring. Carroll was led by guard Kami Mickens, a Boston College signee, who scored a game-high 25 points. Gretchen Morrison added 17 points and Madison Drescher chipped in 16.
Dragons Face Arlington Martin In First Round
The Carroll Dragons, the No.3 seed from District 4-5A, face Arlington Martin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in a Class 5A bi-district playoff at Saginaw High School.
The Carroll Dragons controlled their own destiny in the regular season finale Tuesday night at CSHS. The Dragons routed Keller Timber Creek 70-49 and earned one of the four playoff berths in District 4-5A. It also marked a playoff berth for Eric McDade in his first year as head coach. The Dragons were powered by a 19-0 run in the first half.
The Dragons trailed by six points after the first quarter, but raced back with huge efforts in the second and third quarters. Entering the fourth quarter, the Dragons had rebounded and held at 25-point lead. Carroll (19-13) was led by Daniel Brown’s game-high 23 points. Brett Jolly added 13 and Hunter Summy had eight. Carroll finished tied for third in district with Northwest and won the seeding coin flip and will be the district’s No. 3 seed.
Carroll will face Arlington Martin in a Class 5A bi-district playoff at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Saginaw High School.

The Carroll Lady Dragons (19-7) begin the Class 5A playoffs Monday, Feb. 11 with a matchup against Weatherford. Game time is 6:30 p.m. at Nolan High School in Fort Worth.

The Lady Dragons are 12-1 in district and can earn the title outright with a victory Tuesday at home against Haltom. Carroll holds a one-game lead over second-place Richland. Last Friday, Carroll earned a 63-42 victory and were led by Gretchen Morrison’s game-high 24 points. Kennedy Leonard added 15 points and Kami Mickens added 10. The Lady Dragons raced to a 23-7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in the 21-point victory and posted their 11th consecutive victory. Carroll tips off at 6:30 Tuesday.
Dragons Slip Against Fossil Ridge
Carroll fell to 5-6 in District 4-5A with a 51-43 setback against Fossil Ridge last Friday. The Dragons(16-13) are now tied for fourth place with Fossil Ridge in district with three games remaining. The top four teams advance to the playoffs. Carroll was led by Brett Jolly and Spencer Tietjen, who each scored nine apiece. Daniel Brown had seven. Carroll entered the fourth quarter trailing by four after the game was tied at halftime. Carroll’s final three games are against Haltom, Keller Central and Keller Timber Creek. The Dragons host Haltom at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The Carroll Lady Dragons’ basketball team recorded a key District 4-5A victory Tuesday against Keller. The Lady Dragons defeated Keller 49-44 and moved to 11-1 with two games remaining in district play. Carroll (17-7 overall) produced the seperation in the first half building a 15-point lead and held off a Keller second-half rally. The Lady Dragons were led by guard Kami Mickens and Kennedy Leonard. Mickens scored 13 points and Leonard had 12. Savannah Nauwelaers added eight points. The Lady Dragons hold a one-game lead over Richland at 10-2. Keller is in third place at 9-3. Carroll travels to face Fossil Ridge at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Dragons Edged By Keller
Carroll suffered a close setback Tuesday at home against Keller. The Dragons fell 49-46 and dropped to 5-5 in District 4-5A as they battle for one of the four playoff berths. Four games remain in district play and the Dragons (16-12) are in fourth place, one game ahead of Keller Timber Creek. Carroll travels to meet Fossil Ridge at 8 p.m. Friday. Against Keller, the Dragons were led by Daniel Brown’s 14 points. Cole Partyka and Spencer Tietjen each scored nine apiece.
