Playoff Update: Carroll Soccer Teams Bound For Midland

The Carroll Lady Dragons opened the Class 5A playoffs with a shutout against Arlington Lamar.

Carroll (24-2) scored one goal in the first half and added two in the second half for a 3-0 bi-district round playoff win last Friday at Dragon Stadium. Freshman Grace Cory scored the first goal and Meghan Murphy added a second-half header and leading scorer Sophie Groff added the final goal.

The Lady Dragons advance to meet El Paso Franklin at 12 p.m. Friday at Midland’s Grande Communications Stadium.

Dragons Fight Off Lamar
The Carroll Dragons held off Lamar for a 2-1 bi-district playoff win last Friday in the second game of a Carroll playoff soccer doubleheader at Dragon Stadium. The Dragons (19-4-4) were led offensively by goal scorers Andrew Baker and Jack Parrish. Lamar cut the lead in half in the 63rd minute but the Dragons’ defense held.

Carroll advances to face El Paso Bel Air in a Class 5A Region I Area Playoff at 2 p.m. Friday at Midland’s Grande Communications Stadium.

Soccer Update: Carroll Teams Host Playoffs Friday

UPDATE: Both Carroll soccer teams will host Class 5A Bi-District playoff games Friday at Dragon Stadium against Arlington Lamar. The Lady Dragons play at 6 p.m. and the Dragon play at 4 p.m.

The Carroll Lady Dragons ended the regular season with a 5-0 shutout against Haltom on a chilly Senior Night last Friday at Dragon Stadium. The Lady Dragons enter the Class 5A state playoffs with a record of 24-2 and finished as the District 4-5A champion at 13-1. Last Friday, senior Alison Savage broke the school record for most career starts with 99.

Dragons Finish With District Championship
The Dragons ended the regular season with a 1-0 victory last Friday and the District 4-5A championship. Carroll enters the playoffs with a 18-4-4 record and 10-2-2 mark in district.  

 

Soccer Update: Boys Earn Senior Night Shutout

The Carroll Dragon boys’ soccer team stayed atop District 4-5A with a 1-0 victory against Fossil Ridge on Senior Night at Dragon Stadium. Senior Brad Rostron’s second half penalty kick provided the difference. Carroll improved to 9-2-2 in district with one game remaining Friday at Haltom at 7 p.m. Carroll can win the district championship with a victory. Keller is in second place at 9-3-1. The Class 5A state playoffs begin next week.

Lady Dragons Clinch Outright Title
The Carroll Lady Dragon soccer team earned the District 4-5A title with a 3-0 victory Tuesday against Fossil Ridge. The Lady Dragons improved to 12-1 in district and will begin the playoffs next week. The regular season ends Friday when the Lady Dragons host Haltom at 7:30 p.m. on Senior Night.

 

 

 

 

 

Soccer Update: Lady Dragons Rebound With Win

The Carroll Lady Dragon soccer team rebounded from its first District 4-5A with a 4-1 victory Tuesday night at Keller Timber Creek. The Lady Dragon were led in scoring by Sophie Groff, Meghan Murphy, Allison Savage and Devan Zazasky with a goal apiece. Carroll improved to 19-2-1 overall and 8-1 in district. The Lady Dragons host Richland Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium.

Dragons Tie Timber Creek
The Carroll Dragons tied Keller Timber Creek 1-1 Tuesday night at Dragon Stadium. The Dragons led 1-0 at the half, but Timber Creek scored on penatly kick late in the second half to earn a tie. The Dragons remain atop District 4-5A at 6-1-2. Carroll travels to face Richland at 7 p.m. Friday.

 

Soccer Update: Carroll Teams Fall To Keller Central

The nationally-ranked Carroll Lady Dragons lost their first District 4-5A game of the season last Friday at Dragon Stadium. Keller Central upset Carroll 1-0. Keller Central led 1-0 at half and denied several Lady Dragon scoring attempts to secure the shutout. The Lady Dragons (18-2, 7-1) return to action Tuesday on the road at 7:15 p.m. against Keller Timber Creek. Recently, Carroll goalie Tori Stephens earned her 28th career shutout setting a program record.

Dragons Lose First District Game
The Dragons lost for the first time in District 4-5A at Keller Central 1-0. The Dragons are now 6-1-1 in district and remain in first place ahead of second-place Keller (5-2-1). Keller Central is third at 5-0-3. Carroll will try to get back on track when it hosts Keller Timber Creek Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Dragon Stadium.

Soccer Roundup: Dragons Post Big Comeback Win

The Carroll Dragon boys’ soccer team earned a 4-3 comeback victory last Friday against Keller Timber Creek. The Dragons trailed 3-0 at half and came back to post their first District 4-5A victory. Carroll is 1-0-1 in district and 9-1-3 on the season. The Dragons host Richland at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dragon Stadium.

The nationally-ranked Lady Dragons are off to a 2-0 start in District 4-5A. Carroll has posted victories against Keller Central and Keller Timber Creek. The Lady Dragons play on the road Tuesday at Richland and host Northwest Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium.

Carroll Soccer Teams Get Seasons Underway

The Carroll boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are in action this week as both are competing in Metroplex tournaments. The Dragons will compete in the Richland tournament at the Birdville Fine Arts/Athletics Complex and open against the Trinity Trojans on Thursday at 1:15 p.m. The Dragons are also scheduled to play at 3:45 p.m. on Friday against Allen and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday against North Side.
Dragons’ 2013 Schedule

The Lady Dragons will compete on their home field at Dragon Stadium to open tournament action. Carroll hosts Bishop Lynch at 3 p.m. Thursday. The girls’ also play at noon Friday against Lubbock Monterey at Dragon Stadium and 8 p.m. Friday against Kingwood at TCU. The Lady Dragons’ final game of the tourney will be against Liberty, Calif. at noon Saturday at Dragon Stadium.
